LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, on Monday released the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency across Northern Michigan in the aftermath of extreme winter weather that devastated the region and left thousands without power over the weekend:
“I applaud the governor’s decision to declare a state of emergency following the horrific storms that have taken place. This decision will allow for quick deployment of critical resources to the communities affected.
“To those affected by the storms, please know you are not alone in this challenging time. I am in constant contact with government officials and utility providers and am committed to ensuring our community receives the support it needs to recover and rebuild.
“I would also like to express deep gratitude to all the linemen, workers, and emergency responders for their unwavering hard work in restoring stability to our families and communities.”
